Emerging Artist Residency Program

COMING Winter 2022

COVID-19 UPDATE

Due to the ongoing Ontario Government lockdowns this program has been put on hold. A call for applicant will be opened at a later date. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

In response to the devastation that the performing arts industry is currently facing and will continue to face post-pandemic, the Cornerstone Studio in partnership with Alias Dance Project will be putting a call out for emerging artists to apply to one of two places in our Emerging Artist Residency Program.

The residency will support two 40-hour creation processes, taking place in the winter of 2022. The residency artist selection will prioritize BIPOC emerging dance artists, providing each of them with 40 hours of studio space to create a short dance work.

We are also working to provide each artist with production support for this project, to present their creation as a part of the Cornerstone Youth Company’s site-specific performance, taking place in store fronts across the Gerrard India Bazaar in Spring 2021. Confirmation of this, will be determined in Winter 2021.

If you would like to make a donation to our Emerging Artist Residency program, please contact lauren@cornerstonestudio.ca. All funds raised will go to the selected artists, to help support them throughout their residency.
