Requirements

By choosing to be a part of our Competitive team, students are able to take their dance training to the next level. Composed of strong, driven and dance-loving students, who work hard to improve technique, strength, flexibility,  musicality, freestyle, ability to pick up choreography, and performance skills, all while having fun.

Competitive Team Performance Commitments:

    • Students must commit to attend 3 weekend competitions in the spring. The general dates of the competitions will be announced in the fall, and will be shared with our families as early as possible.
    • Students must commit to attend the Competitive Showcase dress rehearsal and performance, taking place in the Winter of 2023.
    • Students must commit to participate in the Cornerstone Recital.
    • Students must commit to participate in one Cornerstone Studio Summer Dance Intensive.

      • Students must maintain good standing attendance in required classes, with a maximum of 3 absences per class for the season (no absences are permitted for classes within 1 week of any performance or competition).

    Junior Competitive Group

    Junior Acro Competitive Team Required Classes:

    • Competitive Junior Acro Choreo class
    • Junior Acro Skills class
    • Junior Jazz Skills class 

    Junior Jazz Competitive Team Required Classes:

    • Competitive Junior Jazz Choreo class
    • Junior Jazz Skills class
    • 1 Additional skills class (either Ballet, Acro or Contemporary) 

    Junior Hip Hop Competitive Team Required Classes: 

    • Competitive Junior Hip Hop Choreo class
    • Junior Hip Hop Skills Class
    • 1 Additional skills class (either Breaking, Ballet, Acro, Jazz, or Contemporary) 

    Junior Ballet Competitive Team Required Classes: 

    • Competitive Junior Ballet Choreo class
    • 1 Ballet Skills class
    • 1 Additional skills class (either Jazz or Acro) 

    Pre-Intermediate Competitive Group

    Pre-Intermediate Hip Hop Competitive Team Required Classes: 

    • Competitive Pre-Intermediate Hip Hop Skills Class
    • Pre-Intermediate Hip Hop Skills class
    • 1 Breaking Skills Class or 1 Pre-Inter/ Inter Street Dance Mix class *for students who are only competing in hip hop. 

    Pre-Intermediate Contemporary Competitive Team Required Classes:

    • Competitive Pre-Intermediate Contemporary Choreo class 
    • Pre-Intermediate Contemporary Skills class
    • 1 Additional skills class (either Jazz, Acro, Ballet or Hip Hop) 

    Pre-Intermediate Acro Competitive Team Required Classes: 

    • Competitive Pre-Intermediate Acro Choreo class
    • Pre-Intermediate Acro Skills class
    • Pre-Intermediate Acro Conditioning class
    • 1 Jazz Skills Class 

    Intermediate Competitive Group

    Intermediate Jazz Competitive Team Required Classes: 

    • Competitive Intermediate Jazz Choreo class
    • Intermediate Jazz Skills class
    • 1 Additional Skills class (either Contemporary, Acro or Ballet) 

    Intermediate Hip Hop Competitive Team Required Classes: 

    • Competitive Intermediate Hip Hop Choreo class
    • Intermediate Hip Hop skills class
    • 1 Breaking Skills Class or 1 Pre-Inter/ Inter Street Dance Mix class *for students who are only competing in hip hop. 

    Senior Competitive Group

    • 1 Additional Skills class (either Contemporary, Acro or Ballet) 

    Senior Acro Competitive Team Required Classes:

    • Senior Acro Conditioning class
    • 1 Jazz Skills class 

    Senior Ballet Small Group Competitive Team Required Classes: 

    • Competitive Senior Ballet Choreo class
    • Grade 5 Ballet class
    • 1 Additional technique class (either Jazz or Acro) 

    Senior Contemporary Competitive Team Required Classes:

    • Competitive Senior Contemporary Choreo class
    • Senior Contemporary Skills class
    • 1 Additional technique class (either Ballet, Acro or Jazz) 

    Solo, Duet, Trios

    Competitive Solos, Duets and Trios will be offered on an individual basis. In order to compete in a solo, duet or trio, students must first accept their competitive group offers.
