Mackenzie Grantham is a dancer, choreographer, and educator raised in Castlegar, British Columbia. Her passion for dance began early, developing through her local studio’s competitive dance program, where she trained in a range of styles including Ballet, Contemporary, Acrobatics, Jazz, and Musical Theatre. After graduating high school, Mackenzie moved to Toronto to study at York University’s Dance Program.
At York, she trained extensively in Ballet, Modern techniques, floorwork, and contact improvisation, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Choreography and Performance. Since then, she has performed in the Toronto remount of Colossus by Australian choreographer Stephanie Lake and DINO by Alyssa Martin of Rock Bottom Movement, presented through the Guelph Dance Festival. She also spent a summer training intensively with NW Dance Project in Portland, Oregon. Most recently, she participated in a choreographic residency for emerging artists through the Lofty Goal Project.
While Mackenzie’s professional interests lie in Modern and Contemporary dance, she continues to remain deeply involved in Acrobatics—her lifelong passion—through regular training in tumbling and circus arts.
As an educator, Mackenzie is dedicated to helping young dancers build trust in their bodies, take pride in their progress, and develop confidence in their abilities. With over seven years of teaching experience across British Columbia and Toronto, she has worked with students of all ages and skill levels. In 2022, she received the Acro Educator Excellence Award from Shine Dance Festival for her work integrating safe Acrobatics training into stage performance. Mackenzie is certified in Acrobatic Arts (Module 1).
